SCHEDULE CHANGES

Schedule changes are made through the School Counseling Department.  Students must comply with the schedule change process established by the school.  Should a student elect to change a class, the following rules will apply:

In keeping with Prince William County Regulation 661.04-5, if a student drops a one-year course during the first semester, a notation will be made on the student's permanent record stating "Withdrawn, Passing" (WP) or "Withdrawn, Failing" (WF).  The procedure will become effective within one week after the issuance of the first interim.  At OP, WP/WF will be entered on the student's academic record beginning October 20, 2009.  The regulation further states that a failing grade will be recorded for a one-year course dropped after the first semester.  At OP, a year long course dropped after the first semester will receive an automatic "F" effective February 1, 2010.

For students enrolled in a one-semester course who drop the course before the end of the nine weeks, the notation "Withdrawn, Passing" (WP) or Withdrawn, Failing" (WF) will be recorded.  For a one-semester course dropped after the nine-week period, a failing grade will be recorded on the student's transcript.

If a student moves from one level to another level of the same course, the grades earned in the initial course will transfer to the second course.

ATTENTION COLLEGE BOUND ATHLETES

To participate in college sports at the Division I or Division II level, athletes need to register on line with the NCAA Clearinghouse at www.ncaaclearinghouse.net.  It is recommended that student athletes register with the NCAA Clearinghouse at the end of their junior year in high school.  The web site also has information pertaining to academic eligibility, college athletics, and recruiting.  For additional information, contact Mrs. Bach in the Career Center.
